Concert: How to Request

The Employee Activities Association (EAA) supports the SSA Chorus. EAA provides partial funding for music and equipment. It also sponsors special events in which the SSA Chorus participates such as the SSA Night Orioles Game at Camden Yards and various events within the agency.

For award ceremonies or other planned events, a 30-day advance notice is required. For special SSA events, the Chorus President needs at least a week's notice. Although administrative leave is granted for performances, singers still have to plan performances around their priority work assignments (for those who are employed fulltime) or other activities (for those who are busy retirees).

To make a request for a performance, you have two options:

  • FAX a letter of request (or the printed request form) to Dawn Fischer
    at
    410-965-5486.
  • Email a request to Dawn at dawn.fischer@ssa.gov.

Only two "outside" performances are usually scheduled per month. The SSA Chorus is booked up to a year in advance, although the chorus tries to accommodate special events and will reschedule due to unexpected cancellations.

Since the SSA Chorus sings at events during work hours, the performances require approval by the Office of External Affairs (OEA) within the Office of Communications (OCOMM). All requests for the SSA Chorus should provide the following information:

  • Name and address of the organization;
  • Person representing the organization and a daytime phone number;
  • Type of organization (agency component, assisted living, senior center, etc.);
  • Requested dates and times for the performance (provide several date/time options, if possible);
  • Any special music request (holiday, patriotic, etc.)

If you have any questions about requesting the services of the SSA Chorus, please call Dawn at 410-965-4687. You can also contact the SSA Chorus Director, Sandy Wieprecht, at 410-965-6872.
